Speaker & Moderator Instructions


Dear Speakers & Moderators,

We look forward to welcoming you to the globally acclaimed Africa Energies Summit, taking place from 14th - 16th May in London.

Take time to read through the points below and don’t hesitate to ask us if you have any questions. 

Agenda & Session Formats  

  • Please review latest version of the Africa Energies Summit Agenda, here. 

  • Please check that you are happy with your name, job title, biography and talk title. Let us know if any of these need updating. 

  • We have two stages at the Summit – the PLENARY STAGE and the SHOWCASE THEATRE. Details of the location of your session are highlighted on the Agenda. The Plenary and Showcase Theatre are adjacent to one other. 

There are 3 different formats to sessions at this Summit, please click on the relevant section below to understand what is required of you (details of which one you are taking part in can be found in your invitation:  

    • Taking into account a few minutes for an introduction, you are required to deliver a presentation in the agreed time slot.

    • You may or may not wish to use slides. If you would like to use slides, the aspect ratio is 16:9.

    • No questions will be taken after individual presentations.

    • In advance of the event, your moderator will be in touch to pre-agree a structure and key themes to cover in the allotted time on the topic.

    • There will be no presentations/slides during this session, just discussion.

    • This format is used for the Government/ NOC Showcase Sessions.

    • You will be required to make a short presentation for 15 minutes. After each speaker has had this opportunity to present, we will settle down on stage for a panel session with your moderator.

    • You may or may not wish to use slides for your short presentation. If you would like to use slides, the aspect ratio is 16:9

Deadline for PowerPoint Slides

  • The deadline for submitting any PowerPoint materials is DATE.

  • Not all sessions require PowerPoint slides and if your style is to not use a slide deck, then we welcome that.

  • Please email your presentation to olivia@frontierenergy.network and mini@frontierenergy.network

  • If the file size is too large to email (>8MB) then please use a file transfer site approved by your organisation (e.g.) Dropbox or WeTransfer.

  • Your presentation will be timed with a stop clock.

  • All presentations should be limited to no more than 12 slides (including title slides).

  • Please note that should your slide count exceed the allocated limit, we will be obliged to decrease them accordingly.

  • If you are not intending to use slides which is completely fine, please let Olivia know. 

Moderators

  • If you are moderating a session, please get in touch with your participants in advance of the Summit by DATE.

  • You will find job titles and bios for all of your speakers on the Summit App.

  • Let us know if you need additional support.

On the Day 

  • The Summit is a three-day event from 14th - 16th May 2024. 

  • Speakers do not get automatic access to the Gala Dinner on the 15th May. To attend the Summit Gala Dinner please purchase your ticket here. Gala Dinner tickets are £435 +VAT/person).  

  • Speakers do not get automatic access to the Members’ Dinner on the 14th May. If you would like to join us, we suggest you explore Membership, it’s £495/ annum for this and a plethora of other benefits throughout the year.

  • Doors open at 07:30 on all three days where tea, coffee and pastries will be served.  

  • Please aim to arrive promptly. When you arrive, please let a member of the Events Team at the Registration Desk know that you are a speaker. They will then give you instructions on where you need to go, depending on when you are speaking.

  • Please refer to your specific instructions you have received via email with timings of where you need to be, when.

  • You will deliver your presentation from the lectern where we will have a lectern mic, a remote mouse so you can control your own presentation, and a comfort monitor.  

  • There will be a member of the Frontier Team in the audience with timing cards (5 mins, 2 mins and stop) to ensure you keep to time.


Venue & Security Protocol

  • Details of the venue will be released on the Summit App 48 hours before the Summit.   

  • Registered delegates will receive notification of this on the App. Instructions to download it are below.   

  • The Summit App will be your passport to the event. When you arrive at the venue, we will ask you to show your Summit App, along with a form of official photo identification (e.g.) Passport or Driving License. We will then provide you with a wristband which you must wear for the duration of the event.   

  • The venue policy is that anyone not on our guest list will not be allowed access.  

  • Registration staff will have a list of all of our confirmed guests. Please be patient while they find your name. 

  • Do not disclose details of the venue or publish any information about the venue on social media.

Dress Code

  • Business attire or traditional dress for both Summit and networking drinks reception.

  • Evening drinks reception, open to all attendees, on 14th May will be held at the same venue as the Summit.

  • As you may be provided with a lapel microphone, it would be preferable to adhere to a dress code that includes clothing with pockets.

  • Download the Summit App – contains the attendee list, agenda, sponsors and exhibitors.

  • Start networking and set up your meetings in advance.

  • Build your Profile and set your interests so people can find you (Profile/About Me).

  • Get the Frontier App for your mobile: Scan QR code or click the appropriate button.
