Frontier Welcomes ANPG Angola as a Platinum Government Showcase Sponsor for the Africa Energies Summit
Frontier is delighted to announce that Agência Nacional de Petróleo, Gás e Biocombustíveis (ANPG), Angola’s national oil, gas, and biofuels agency, has joined the Africa Energies Summit as a Platinum Government Showcase Sponsor. This collaboration underscores ANPG’s commitment to attracting global investment and driving the growth of Angola’s energy sector.
Strengthening a Long-Standing Partnership
Strengthening a fruitful and long-standing partnership, Frontier’s partnership with ANPG builds on the success of the Explore Angola Forum, hosted in January by Gayle Meikle, CEO of Frontier, and Daniel Davidson and key partners Equinor and SLB. During their visit to Angola, they engaged with ANPG and key industry stakeholders, reinforcing ties with investors; both in-country partners and new entrants. The forum provided a platform for high-level discussions on Angola’s upstream potential and investment opportunities.
Ambitious Plans
ANPG has recently unveiled ambitious initiatives to solidify Angola’s standing in the global energy market. Recently, Alcides Andrade, ANPG’s Executive Director, confirmed that Angola has secured over $60 billion in investment commitments for upcoming oil and gas projects. These funds will drive major exploration and production activities over the next five years, supporting both established players and new entrants into Angola’s market.
As part of its ongoing strategy to enhance exploration and production, Angola is gearing up for its next international licensing round in 2025, following a six-year roadmap initiated in 2019. The 2023 licensing round, which concluded in January 2024, saw 53 bids, and the government is now finalising contract negotiations. This next tender is expected to attract further investments and strengthen Angola’s position as a leading oil and gas producer in Africa and the world.
Cabinda Oil Refinery, a key project aimed at reducing fuel imports and increasing domestic refining capacity, is due to begin operations in 2025. The refinery is expected to play a pivotal role in Angola’s energy security strategy, supporting long-term economic growth and reducing the country’s reliance on imported refined products.
Africa Energies Summit 2025: A Premier Investment Platform
The Africa Energies Summit, taking place in London in May 2025, is a premier platform for African governments, global energy leaders, and investors to engage in high-level discussions on the future of the continent’s energy sector. ANPG’s participation as a Platinum Government Showcase Sponsor will provide attendees with exclusive insights into Angola’s latest developments, licensing opportunities, and investment prospects.
"We are honoured to welcome ANPG as a Key Sponsor for this 8thEdition of the Africa Energies Summit," said Gayle Meikle, CEO at Frontier. "Angola's energy sector is entering a dynamic new phase, and we are excited to collaborate closely with ANPG to drive investment and innovation. ANPG's involvement with our Summit has already attracted significant investment for Angola, and we are eager to build on this momentum in London from May 13th to 15th, 2025. My visit to Luanda in January was incredibly insightful, and I look forward to bringing that energy and enthusiasm to the Summit, creating even greater opportunities for collaboration and growth."
