Uganda’s upstream sector is rapidly evolving, with the country’s vast petroleum resources set to play a transformative role in its economic future. The Albertine Graben - Uganda’s primary oil-bearing region -holds an estimated 6.5 billion barrels of oil resources, with about 1.4 billion barrels recoverable. With major development projects, including Tilenga and Kingfisher, moving toward first oil in 2025, Uganda is entering a new era of energy production.
At the heart of this transformation is UNOC, which is driving the development of key infrastructure, including refining, storage, and pipeline projects, to maximise the value of Uganda’s hydrocarbon resources. The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), a crucial link between Uganda’s oil fields and international markets, is a testament to the country’s commitment to unlocking its full energy potential.
